The decision of government to set up private universities all across the state was much appreciated by the educationists & students. It was a long time pending decision that finally hit the ground. People have different views on this matter. However, the founder of Katihar Medical College has his own opinion.

Ahmad Ashfaque Karim is one of the renowned educationists of Bihar. He was the one who has pioneered state’s first Minority Medical College at Katihar. Karim Sahab has been vocal for the urge of more education institutions in Bihar.  He opines, “It is the power of education that empowers the downtrodden.” Private universities would open new opportunities to the students.

Late academic session is a common phenomenon in state universities. Students enrolled themselves in three year degree courses but it took almost double with five to six years to finish the studies. Late conduction of exams & declaration of results is the biggest problem that students are bound to face. However, with the advent of these private universities the problem could be solved. Since, private universities throughout the country have a better track record of academic sessions, student can hope for regular academic sessions in these universities.

Students that come from low or middle income background generally opt for short term vocational courses so that after completion of the course they might help their family financially. Earlier it took much time than expected and therefore the basic purpose for opting them get defeated. Now, students have a choice.

Increasing water levels in Kosi, Gandak & Bagmati rivers in Bihar

   

Even after several years of the catastrophe in 2008, the residents in Kosi could not have forgotten that horrified day when their lives shattered in just one moment. It has taken years to people to recollect themselves & start afresh. Once again people are terrified with that same fear of flood which had ruined their lives.

Increasing water levels in Kosi, Gandak & Bagmati rivers has threatened the population. Many districts of Kosi region have been flooded including Araria, Purnea, Katihar, Saharsa & Khagaria as well. The rivers are flowing above danger levels at several points & the embankments are also not safe.

Ahmad Ashfaque Karim, the Vice President of Lok Janshakti Party has called the society to come forward and contribute in the rescue of Kosi masses. Govermnet machinery is doing their job but it is the time to do something for humanity. Kosi masses are crying for help. They have limited resources. A large number of people have started fleeing from the place in panic as they are not assured of their well being. It is our responsibility to help the people in calamity. Our little help can make a big difference.

Prof Apurba Nandi - A great loss to the Forensic fraternity of the country ! Ahmad Ashfaque Karim

A sad news. Prof Apurba Nandi - author of the text book on Forensic Medicine and Toxicology has passed away. A thorough professional and an excellent teacher. His contribution to the development of Forensic Medicine as a subject and for its distinct identity is immense and incomparable. A great loss to the Forensic fraternity of the country. He was the former principal of Katihar Medical College. My heart felt condolences to his family and friends. May his soul rest in peace.

First Minority Medical College in Katihar (Bihar) by Ahmad Ashfaque Karim

What one can expect from a 29 years old young mind; he might be through with his studies, has secured a decent job, earn good sums of money and may or may not support his family. But these calculations are for an ordinary man, not for a great personality who has a mission to accomplish. Ahmad Ashfaque Karim has established Katihar Medical College & Hospital in an age of 29 when most of the youths remain busy with enjoying their college and social lives. And all this was for the sake of humanity.

Ahmad Ashfaque Karim has set up the first minority medical college of Bihar in one of the most backward Katihar district of Kosi region. The college is now one of the pioneer institutions in the field of medical education. It serves thousands of people every day and is equipped with every possible modern medical equipments and advance technology.

It was the year of 1987 when young Ashfaque has created history and moved to Supreme Court in against of non-issuance of NOC by Bihar Government. The highest court passed a historic judgment that lay down that NOC would be issued after a stipulated period to any minority institution which has applied for affiliation.

More than that, Asfaque karim doesn’t hail from Katihar, neither he has any relation to the district.  But he has a relation to every human that is in need. The society is fortunate to have Karim Sahab. He has earned blessings of those several thousands, lakhs of people who have been availing quality health services for no cost.

वाह रे सरकार और हाय रे बेचारी जनता ! हमारी प्रदेश सरकार के अजब-गजब खेल तो देखिए . एक तरफ ये लोग केंद्र पर बिहार की अपेक्षा करने का आरोप लगते हैं, राज्य की पिछड़ी स्थिति का हवाला देकर विशेष राज्य का दर्जा मांगते हैं, मिलना भी तय है. दूसरी तरफ खुद पिछड़े कोसी इलाकों के साथ सौतेला व्यवहार करने में लगे हैं. विशेष राज्य दर्जा की तरह बिहार सरकार को कोसी इलाके को विशेष दर्जा देना चाहिए. फिलहाल मुद्दा ये है कि इतने सालों तक सत्तारूढ़ सरकार ने राज्य के इस अभिन्न भाग की बदहाली दूर करने के लिए सार्थक प्रयास क्यूँ नहीं किया? साधन, शक्ति, व्यवस्था सब तो इनके पास थी. फिर कोसी क्यों पिछड़ेपन का दंश झेलने को मजबूर है! कहीं ये सरकार उस नीरो की तरह तो नहीं जो रोम के जलते वक्त आराम से बैठा बांसुरी बजा रहा था. लगता तो कुछ ऐसा ही है.
समय आ गया है कि आरोप-प्रत्यारोप और वोट बैंक की राजनीति छोड़ सरकार अपने घर को सवांरने के बारे में सोचे. अगर अब भी इन्हें होश नहीं आया तो जनता को सत्ता परिवर्तन करने में वक्त नहीं लगेगा. कोसीवासियों के विकास की जायज मांग तो निश्चय ही पूरा होगा. विकसित बिहार का सपना होगा साकार होगा. जब कोसी क्षेत्र को मिलेगा अपना अधिकार!

जाति की संख्या के अनुसार बजट में प्रावधान होना चाहिए. | Ahmad Ashfaque Karim

कुछ राजनीतिक लोग आजकल सवाल उठा रहे हैं कि जाति जनगणना के आकंड़ों को सार्वजनिक नहीं किया जा रहा है. इससे बड़ी जनसंख्या की उपेक्षा हो रही है. जाति की संख्या के अनुसार बजट में प्रावधान होना चाहिए. उनके विकास पर खर्च होने चाहिए. मेरी समझ है कि यह सिर्फ वोट हासिल करने का घृणित खेल है. इन्हें बहुत पहले से पता है कि बिहार में मुसलमानों की आबादी 17 फीसदी है. लेकिन, उनके लिए बजट में 17 प्रतिशत प्रावधान नहीं किया जाता है क्यों? इसका जवाब है! 15 साल तो खुद सत्ता में रहे तब भी कुछ नहीं किया! उनके नए साथी भी दस साल से कुर्सी पर काबिज है! उन्होंने 17 फीसदी आवंटन क्यों नहीं किया? राजनीतिक हिस्सेदारी में भी सत्रह प्रतिशत हिस्सा होना चाहिए था. लेकिन, जाति जनगणना के नाम पर आंसू बहा रहे हैं. कभी उनका हिस्सा देने पर विचार भी नहीं किया.

इतना ही नहीं समाजिक न्याय के तथाकथित मसीहाओं को जवाब देना चाहिए कि उन्होंने बजट में पिछड़े-अति पिछड़े, दलित और अल्पसंख्यक बहुल कोसी क्षेत्र की उपेक्षा क्यों किया? दोनों को यहां से जबर्दस्त समर्थन मिला. फिर भी यह हाल क्यों हुआ? उन्होंने इस क्षेत्र के विकास का प्रयास क्यों किया? किसने उन्हें रोका था? सिर्फ जाति के नाम पर आंसू बहा राजनीतिक रोटी सेंकने का वक्त बीत चुका है. अब इन लोगों की दाल नहीं गलने वाली है!
